Coat reddish grey, with lighter undersides; the face has a distinctive black-and-white mask.

Appearance

 

The sable antilope which, however, is slightly smaller and black (male) or reddish brown (female) above, unlike the roan's horns are less curved than those of the sable.

Habitat

 

Medium-to-tall grassland regions, close to trees and water.
