Colour

 

Cinnamon brown, with white underbelly, the white separated from the brown on either flank by a broad, dark brown band. White rump, with dark brown vertical bands on either side; the white tail has a tuft of black hairs at the tip. Backs of forelegs and fronts of hindlegs are white. White throat and face, with a dark brown line from corners of mouth to eyes.

Appearance

 

Impala, but both sexes of springbok carry ridged, lyre-shaped horns. Unlike impala, the springbok has a white face and dark red-brown band along flank.

Habitat

 

Open, dry grassland, where the grass is low and the terrain flat; other semi-arid regions wehere ample karoo-type vegetation exists for feeding.
