Colour

 

A greyish buff throughout, except for white underparts. Front of forelegs dark brown; dark line runs from the forehead down to the nostrils.

Appearance

 

The steenbok but, although they are of similar height, the common duiker is much heavier. Its greyish coat and witish underparts are easily distinguished from the orange-brown upperparts and pure white underparts of the more lightly built steenbok.

Habitat

 

Bush country, althought it happily adapts to other types of habitat, with the exception of thick forests and vegetationless desert.
